Interdisciplinary scholar. He works in collaboration with Indigenous peoples and local communities to understand, visualize and mobilize the contribution of indigenous approaches to environmental management and biodiversity conservation, wellbeing and livelihoods in the context of research and decision-making. He has undertaken community-based research with Indigenous and local partners in the Eastern Canadian Arctic, Southeast Coastal Brazil and the Colombian Pacific Coast. He is a member of the Commission on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's (IUCN CEESP) .
