Maria C. Lo Bue is a development economist currently working as a research associate at UNU-WIDER. Prior to that, she was a postdoc researcher and lecturer at the University of Goettingen (2017-2019) and Verona (2016-2017). Maria obtained her PhD from the University of Göttingen, with a doctoral dissertation on the complementarities of child health achievements, analyzing microdata from Indonesia. Maria has conducted research on the evolution and drivers of child health, on reproductive health as well as on education, inequality and socio-economic mobility. Recent projects at UNU-WIDER include work on women economic empowerment, on intergenerational mobility and on the evolution of clientelistic practices in low- and middle-income countries.
