CLEARWATER, Fla., May 30, 2017 -- On Tuesday, May 30th, Youth for Human Rights, a non-profit organization sponsored by the Church of Scientology, is hosting a gathering of local youth to unite and speak out against the horrific bombing that occurred on Monday night, 22nd May, at Ariana Grande's concert.
The gathering will begin at 7:00pm in the United for Human Rights center in Downtown Clearwater. Youth and young adults of all ages are invited to make paintings, videos, write letters and send blessings to all those that suffered from Monday night’s bombing.
“In times like these our youth need to be given a platform where they can stand up and make their voices heard. By educating our youth on their human rights, they become empowered advocates against human rights violations,” commented Cristian Vargas, the Executive Director for Youth for Human Rights Florida.
In that regard, United Artists for Human Rights was established over a year ago by a group of local youth that wanted to use art as their avenue to advocate for human rights. Every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00pm they meet in the Human Rights Center, creating art and audio/visuals to get their human rights message out into the world. They invite youth and young-adults of all backgrounds, beliefs, and artistic preferences, to join them to make art in the name of human rights.
The United for Human Rights (UHR) center features an information area devoted to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the award-winning audiovisual materials of the organization that bring to life all 30 of the Declaration’s articles through public service announcements and informational and informational documentaries.
The UHR center also houses a seminar room for workshops and lectures and administrative facilities for volunteers and civic groups to collaborate on local human rights initiatives.
L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology Founder and strong supporter of human rights wrote, “Very few governments have implemented any part of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These governments have not grasped that their very survival depends utterly upon adopting such reforms and thus giving their peoples a cause, a civilization worth supporting, worth their patriotism.”
