MIAMI, April 01, 2016 -- Hispanicize 2016 today announced that Puerto Rican reggaeton sensation Wisin will headline the second annual Tecla Awards, the most prestigious national honor highlighting the achievements of top Latino and multicultural content creators.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Wisin's had an artistic career for more than 15 years in which he's sold millions of albums and has performed all around the world. For many years he was a part of the iconic duo Wisin y Yandel, which broke all the records of Latin music, in 2004 his first album was released under the name "El Sobreviviente". In 2014 he edited his second solo production, "El regreso del Sobreviviente". This album shook the American continent positioning 3 singles en #1 radios hits and turning them into classics of Latin music.
Confirmed hosts of the 2nd Annual Tecla Awards show are Telemundo's Jorge Bernal and TV personality Julissa Bermudez. Presented in partnership with TELEMUNDO, the star-studded Tecla Awards gala will take place on Thursday, April 7th during Hispanicize Week at Icon in South Beach.
Wisin's extraordinary social media numbers are perfectly aligned with the story of the TECLA AWARDS. With "El regreso del Sobreviviente" Wisin stayed for more than 15 weeks in the #1 Soundscan chart. He has more than 700 million views in his channel wisionofficialVEVO and on YouTube his songs reach amazing numbers: Adrenalina alone has more than 408,958,243 views.
