LAS VEGAS and SAN FRANCISCO, April 11, 2018 -- ISC West Conference - Umbo Computer Vision, the leading provider of autonomous video, today announced a major upgrade to its AI-based cloud platform, Umbo Light. Umbo Light uses rapid neural networks and the most advanced AI-technology available today to provide organizations with qualified, accurate alerts in real-time to keep people safe, prevent crimes, deter intruders and protect valuable assets stored in both private and open areas.
The video analytics and cameras on the market today lack proper machine learning capabilities, which results in inaccurate data, false alarms and lost and/or damaged property especially when dealing with complex scenes and weather conditions. Umbo Light’s AI-based cloud technology, real-time autonomous video capabilities and learning cameras provides the user with end-to-end protection as well as fast, accurate alerts.
Umbo Light is a temporal end-to-end solution that alerts you to what is happening over your video feeds in real time - alerting you of critical security events so that you can quickly intervene or simply gather visual information. Versus just tracking motion, Umbo Light learns behaviors from what it sees so it better understands a user’s needs the more it is used at a specific location.
According to Oliver Philippou, Senior Analyst, Video Surveillance at IHS Markit, “Deep learning analytics could potentially offer a level of accuracy and reliability in object and behaviour classification that not only enables video analytics finally to deliver on some of the lofty, but as yet unrealised claims made in the past, but pushes capabilities far beyond them.”
Umbo Light now offers two new features:
- Loitering Memory:
• Remembers individuals as they walk behind obstacles or in-and-out of the camera’s view
• Prevents theft by flagging suspicious individuals spending too much time around or in secure open, semi-public areas, such as ATM kiosks and parking lots - Occupancy:
• Enables the learning camera to give the user the number of people in a specific room or area
• Count can be done without the need for additional installed devices or specifically positioned cameras, such as requiring a top down view at the entrance
“When we set out to develop Umbo Light three years ago, our vision was to provide our customers with an autonomous video solution that enabled a safer and better world,” said Shawn Guan, CEO of Umbo Computer Vision. “With these new advancements, we are delivering on our promise to reimagine how video can understand what it sees in real-time the same way that humans do. This enables our customers to protect the people and things that they care most about - at all times.”
Umbo Light has processed over 2 billion images to date and was the recipient of the Best in Video Analytics award from SIA at ISC West 2017 and Best of Show at the 2016 Nvidia GTC Emerging Companies Summit. Umbo Computer Vision will be providing demonstrations of Umbo Light at ISC West in Las Vegas at booth #10125 from April 10-13, 2018. Umbo Light is available now and pricing is available upon request.
