US under Trump Series: Germany allegedly slammed with $374 billion NATO bill

The Trump administration has reportedly chalked up a bill and intimidated Chancellor Merkel with unpaid dues of as much as $300 billion towards NATO. Germany previously slammed the US administration by saying that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) does not have a debt account system.

According to NATO agreement, each member country would need to contribute about 2 percent of GDP towards military spending but reports reveal that majority of the member countries do not meet the goal. The Trump administration has calculated the unpaid dues of Germany based on the agreement since 2002. The bill was reportedly handed over to Germany during a private conversation in the White House with Chancellor Angela Merkel.

However, a spokesperson for the German government has denied media reports denying any such existence of the bill and its alleged handing over to Chancellor Merkel.

But after meeting with Ms. Merkel, President Trump did have tweeted that Germany owns vast sums of money towards NATO. Trump has been very critical of NATO and unpaid dues by other members. White has also denied handing over of any such bill.
