US Election Series: Mark your calendars for these dates

We are now one the verge of the final phase in U.S. Presidential Election and we advise that you mark your calendars for the following dates.

The picture is almost clear regarding the nominees. Donald Trump is Republican Party’s Presidential nominee for this year’s election and without any groundbreaking upsets, Hillary Clinton would be Democratic Party’s.

Key dates:

  • Republican Party convention, which is the final process in selecting the candidate and formalizing the party platform/agenda will take place in Cleveland, Ohio from July 18th to July 21st.

  • This year Democratic Party’s national convention is scheduled to take place from July 25th to July 28th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The end of the convention will mark the beginning of the grand finale that will end on November 8th, with general election taking place across the country.

After the convention, your next focus should be on the Presidential debates. Unlike the debates in the primaries which are often organized by news agencies the Presidential debates are organized by the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), which is a non-profit bipartisan organization controlled by both Democratic and Republican Parties.

Key dates of the debates:

There would be four debates organized by the CPD on September 26th, October 4th, October 9th, October 19th and one debate on October 25th sponsored by Free & Equal, a non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots organization in the United States.
