Turkish headline inflation slows in December

Turkish headline inflation slowed in the month of December. The consumer price index rose 0.69 percent on a sequential basis in December, slowing down from 1.49 percent. On a year-on-year basis, consumer price inflation came in at 11.92 percent, slowing down from 12.98 percent.

The indices for non-alcoholic beverages and food rose in the month of December by 1.52 percent, while for furnishing and household equipment it rose 1.18 percent. Index for housing was up 0.77 percent, while for hotels, cafes and restaurants was up 0.47 percent. Meanwhile, the indices for communication and for alcoholic beverages and tobacco dropped in the month.

On a year-on-year basis, food and non-alcoholic beverages index rose 13.79 percent, while for miscellaneous goods and services it rose 12.77 percent. The index for furnishing and household equipment and health was also up in the month.
