Trump Names Adam Telle Acting U.S. Army Secretary

U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday that he has appointed Adam Telle as acting U.S. Army Secretary, following the resignation of Army Secretary Dan Driscoll.

Trump announced the appointment in a social media post, placing Telle temporarily in charge of the U.S. Army as the administration navigates a leadership change at the Pentagon.

Telle currently serves as assistant secretary of the Army for civil works, a position that involves oversight of major infrastructure and water-resource programs carried out by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He will now assume the responsibilities of Army Secretary on an acting basis.

The appointment follows reports that Driscoll submitted his resignation to the White House after months of friction with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

A source familiar with the situation told Reuters on Monday that Driscoll had formally submitted his resignation following prolonged tensions with Hegseth. The circumstances surrounding those disagreements were not detailed.
