The Trump administration has unveiled a new website aimed at recruiting additional law enforcement officers to strengthen security and policing efforts in Washington, D.C. The initiative seeks to expand federal control over the nation’s capital by bringing in personnel from agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the U.S. Park Police. According to the site, successful applicants will serve in Washington for up to one year.
White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers stated that the administration’s goal is to attract “highly qualified and specifically trained individuals” to bolster law enforcement in the city. The recruitment effort follows the administration’s broader strategy to address what former President Donald Trump described as a “crime crisis” in Democratic-led areas, including Los Angeles, Memphis, and Washington.
Since June, National Guard troops have been deployed across multiple cities as part of this unprecedented domestic security initiative. Trump recently declared victory in reducing crime in Washington, though independent reviews—such as a Reuters analysis of public safety data—suggest it is still too early to determine whether these deployments have produced lasting effects.
The newly launched website directs visitors to the official federal jobs board, featuring open positions for U.S. Park Police officers. The listing highlights opportunities to protect “National Park Service icons and symbols of democracy” while emphasizing the need for firearms proficiency and readiness. Qualified recruits may also receive a bonus of up to $70,000 over four years.
By expanding its recruitment of law enforcement officers, the Trump administration aims to reinforce security in key federal areas and maintain order in the nation’s capital amid ongoing political and social tensions.
