HOUSTON, Jan. 04, 2017 -- Transwestern today announces it has been named a 2016 Healthiest 100 Workplace in America® in the Healthiest Employer® Awards Program. “We are truly honored to be named one of the healthiest employers in America,” said Colleen Dolan, executive vice president of Human Resources. “Transwestern is committed to providing our team members the best possible health benefits and creating ample opportunities for them to keep their health top-of-mind. Our unique wellness ambassador approach has enabled us to customize wellness programs for teams at the local level that complement and advance a robust national effort.”
Each Transwestern office has a dedicated volunteer wellness ambassador who takes on additional responsibility to coordinate various wellness events throughout the year, such as educational luncheons and fitness activities. Transwestern’s in-house wellness consultant works directly with the wellness ambassadors to help organize these activities and provide one-on-one guidance. The events cover a wide range of topics, such as nutrition, fitness, stress management, chronic risk prevention, and financial well-being.
Annually, Transwestern conducts a national wellness competition across its seven regions. Over a series of weeks, team members collect steps through a variety of activities in an effort to improve their health and help their region win the challenge. In 2016, a donation to the local Make-A-Wish® chapter was made on the champion’s behalf.
“Year after year, we see strong growth and continued investment in worksite wellness programs,” noted Rod Reasen, CEO of Springbuk, the scoring engine behind the national Healthiest Employer® Awards Program. “These 100 organizations are the best of the best. Their efforts are improving the health of their workforce and community.”
Transwestern’s extensive wellness program is a significant contributor to the various “Best Place to Work” awards received around the country, including recently being named one of the “100 Best Workplaces for Women” by Fortune magazine for the second year.
