“This Is Us” Spoilers: Jack’s Death Will Be Revealed In Season 2; Will This Be Milo Ventimiglia’s Final Season?

Fans of NBC’s tearjerker family drama “This Is Us” will finally know how the Pearson patriarch died in Season 2.

According to Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Jack Pearson in the series, fans should expect some movement to the Pearson family story in the second installment, but it won’t be that straightforward.

He told The Hollywood Reporter, "[Creator Dan Fogelman] is going to give an answer but it's going to beg a lot more questions. There needs to be some kind of resolution or conversation or a whole bridge to be built that got shattered at the end of last season. There's a lot of work to be done there."

Ventimiglia added more about his character’s development in Season 2, and judging by his statements, it seems his character would still be in for a long haul. He said, "The lead time of when I get to discover something about Jack is only a little bit quicker than the audience so when the sum total starts to add up to understanding a bit more of this man's history or where he's going or how he's getting there, I just try and collect it all like someone trying to catch fireflies. Keep 'em in a jar and try to understand that it's all going to add up to who this man is."

Jack’s death in the show was no secret, as it was already revealed early on in the show. The revelation was courtesy of his now grown-up daughter Kate (Chrissy Metz), who blamed herself for her father’s death years before the show’s present day timeline, Cartermatt said. Moreover, the reactions from the rest of the family members, including Jack’s wife and Kate’s mother, Rebecca (Mandy Moore), gave away Jack’s death.

As such, the cause of Jack’s death has been a total mystery, until the show’s Season One finale. In the finale, fans initially thought that he would crashed his car to death after getting drunk. Instead, it showed us a more bleak finale, when he had a massive argument with Rebecca.
