Theresa May will publish 'White Paper' on her 'bold Brexit plan'

U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May announced on Wednesday that she would publish her plan for Britain's exit from the European Union. May said that she recognised there was an "appetite" for a White Paper setting out her "bold plan".

A number of Conservative MPs had joined Labour in asking for May to set out in a White Paper so they can be officially debated in Parliament before she fires the starting gun on Brexit. An initial vote on triggering Article 50 might now happen as early as next week.

Brexit Secretary David Davis said the Government would publish a bill “within days” and warned against any attempt to “thwart the will of the people”.

The announcement comes after the Supreme Court ruled MPs must vote on whether the government can start Brexit. The Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that the government could only invoke Article 50 with a vote in Parliament - rejecting ministers' argument that this was not necessary.
