“The Sims 5” is one of the highly anticipated titles to be part of the biggest video game conventions this year. However, EA remains mum on the status of the game, making it appear like the next game will not be released anytime soon.

The lack of official updates never stopped the rumor mill, though. When it comes to the gameplay of “The Sims 5,” it would not be surprising if one of the things fans are wondering about is the microtransactions aspect of the unannounced title.

The Sims 5’ gameplay speculations: What to expect

Post-launch downloadable contents are not strange, especially for games like “The Sims 4” that has a five-year (and counting) lifespan. But having a more comprehensive base game, content-wise has been one of the top requests among “The Sims” fans. It is still unknown, though, if EA and Maxis are ready to make that happen by the time “The Sims 5” is released.

If the developer’s approach in the roadmap of “The Sims 4” is any indication, it is safe to say that fans should just expect more microtransactions-dependent gameplay contents for “The Sims 5.” To give avid fans more idea, the base game of the fourth main installment retails for $49.90. So far, there have been seven expansions packs ($49.90 each), eight-game packs ($24.90 each), and 15 stuff packs ($12.90 each) released for “TS4” that, overall, costs almost $800. On the other hand, EA could also surprise the “The Sims” community by adding more gameplay features right away in the “The Sims 5” base game like toddlers stuff and other content from the fan-favorite Parenthood pack.

The Sims 5’ release date: Next game’s launch depends on ‘TS4’ roadmap

The public is still clueless when “The Sims 5” will be released or even if its development has already started. Since 2014, it has been apparent that “TS4” remains the top priority for EA and Maxis, as evidenced by the continuous flow of new gameplay contents over the years. It then makes it difficult to predict a release date window because it is unknown just how long is EA’s roadmap for “TS4.”
