A new rumor is once again making its round on the web claiming that “The Last of Us Part 2” will be getting a new trailer alongside the announcement when the sequel will drop. The source of the rumor came from two Spanish websites that said they got their information from a source close to Sony, VG24/7 reported.
Gamereactor and Legion de Jugadores are both claiming that the trailer and release date of “The Last of Us Part 2” will be dropping this week. While nothing has been confirmed at this point, it’s possible that both the sites are citing the same source.
With Sony being absent in the looming E3 2019, the Tokyo-based company and Naughty Dog studio could stand to gain more attention if they reveal these crucial details before the conference takes place. After all, a lot of companies – even outside of the gaming industry – has been employing this tactic for a while to steal the thunder from the competition. There’s also the fact that “Death Stranding” will be announcing something on May 29. Could it be that Sony will be dropping another State of Play that would feature “The Last of Us Part 2” and Hideo Kojima’s latest creation?
We’ll soon find out in the coming days. Rumors involving “The Last of Us Part 2” have been increasing as of late, leading fans to believe that the sequel is getting really close to completion. Game director Neil Druckmann is also firing one major announcement after another confirming that filming for the game has already wrapped up in April.
What’s more, co-game director Anthony Newman tweeted earlier this month that they need talented programmers that would help them complete “The Last of Us Part 2.” Newman put an emphasis on the Melee Animator position and guaranteed that those selected for the job will be working on some “dope animations.”
Regarding its release date, “The Last of Us Part 2” has been rumored to come out later this year as Sony may be looking to squeeze more profit from the PlayStation 4’s final life cycle. The console’s next predecessor, the PlayStation 5, has already been revealed to be a monster of a device, touted to herald a new era for the gaming market as a whole.
