Tesla exec Siddhant Awasthi quashed rumors about the Cybertruck Foundation Series ending, affirming ongoing production. Separately, a Toyota Camry suffered heavy damage in a collision with a Cybertruck in Fresno.
Foundation Series Rumors Dispelled
Kevin Melnuk, an EV fan on the social media site X, spread claims that the Cybertruck Foundation Series was ending. According to people who said they were Tesla employees, Melnuk said customers aren't buying Cybertruck Foundation Series units because they are too expensive.
Siddhant Awasthi, the Tesla Cybertruck Vehicle Program manager, publicly refuted recent rumors that the Foundation Series, an all-electric pickup truck, was nearing its conclusion. He reiterated Tesla's unwavering commitment to the Foundation Series, stating that production of the Cybertruck is still underway.
Teslarati shares that many in the electric vehicle community were quick to refute Melnuk's assertions, with many mentioning that they have yet to receive invitations to the Cybertruck Foundation Series. Some have noted that the electric vehicle manufacturer has complete control over the Cybertruck's conversion rate, making it extremely difficult to get an accurate estimate.
Cybertruck and Toyota Camry Accident Details
In another Tesla Cybertruck news, an accident involving a brand new unit occurred on Tuesday.
The incident in Fresno involved a brand new Tesla Cybertruck. The vehicle sustained minor scratches, and a small piece of the plastic bumper came off. However, the stainless steel body remained intact. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the Toyota involved in the accident was severely damaged.
Fox26 reports that the Toyota's front end was severely damaged. According to the findings of the investigation conducted by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the Camry was stopped on Laurel Avenue while the truck was traveling along Helm Avenue.
