Tesla Competitors Are Coming Out With Impressive Offers One After Another

At the moment, Tesla is the king of electric supercars that even surpass what some gas models can offer. Its Model S is faster, more efficient, and more stylish than most mid-range vehicles. On that note, a crown comes with challengers and for Tesla, there are three notable contenders that are just itching to knock it off its perch.

One of the most serious contenders for Tesla that just entered the stage is Porsche, which built a new electric vehicle monster called the Mission E. The storied luxury car maker is planning to release its line-up of electric supercars around 2020, Futurism reports, and it does boast some remarkable specs.

In terms of its best features as an electric vehicle, the Mission E is capable of driving for 250 miles on a single charge when plugged in for as little as 15 minutes. When fully juiced, Porsche’s offering can drive for 310 miles. Some people might think that this is no big deal, though, since Tesla’s vehicles have been able to reach those numbers for years.

In its concept car form, the Mission E can reach top speeds of about 150mph and can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 3.5 seconds. Not bad, but the Model S P100 is even better, which is why the next entry is so interesting.

Car modder firm Kreisel Electric just took an old Porsche 910 racing car from 1966 and turned it into a 21st century beast of an electric vehicle, BGR reports. Now called the Porsche 910e, this little-known company created a set of wheels that can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 2.5 seconds and can reach top speeds of 186mph. Sure, it’s consumer base is extremely limited, but the achievement is still telling.

Then there’s Faraday Future, which recently revealed its flagship car called the FF 91. Its estimated range is 378 miles, which blows Tesla’s best offer right out of the water. The same goes for the 1,050 horsepower electric engine, which accelerates the car from 0 to 60mph in 2.39 seconds. Those are the kinds of number even Elon Musk said were unlikely to appear right now.
