The RTP lab, formerly owned by Advanced Compliance Solutions, specialized in emissions and wireless testing with extensive expertise in short range, long range, wideband, ultrawideband and IoT radio equipment. Shortly after acquiring Advanced Compliance Solutions, TÜV SÜD invested in additional immunity test equipment to offer full-service EMC testing for Europe and other Global markets. Numerous acquisitions and test lab expansions in 2016/17 demonstrate TÜV SÜD’s commitment to continued growth in the North American test and certification industry.

The facility’s ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation has been expanded to include 45 new common and product specific immunity standards including test methods such as the IEC 61000-4-x series. Over a dozen product family test standards like EN 55024 were added as well as some more unique product specific standards for Building Automation & Control Systems (BACS) EN 50491-5-x. Manufacturers and distributors of appliances, IT equipment, radio devices, alarm systems, lighting equipment, medical systems and In-vitro diagnostic (IVD) medical equipment will be well served by this expansion.
“Increased market penetration of wireless and IoT connected devices are driving the local EMC testing services market,” states Randle Sherian, EMC Lab Manager. “Customers expecting to sell their products in the US, Europe and other Global markets can now get the full suite of EMC testing accomplished at a single location in the heart of Raleigh-Durham”.
Though the expansion was mainly focused on immunity capabilities the RTP lab also bolstered its Global suite of standards used to support the APEC Tel MRA for Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam. Having added these standards to our accreditation the Raleigh-Durham location is now poised to be designated by NIST as a Phase 1 CAB, similar to other TÜV SÜD labs in the US.
