"Star Wars Battlefront 2's" Hero Starfighter mode seems to be the biggest part of the latest update.
Electronic Arts has mentioned that the game mode allows all the players to start the round on a hero ship. While each player can respawn as a generic starship when they are destroyed on their hero ships, the side with the most hero ship kills wins the game.
The new game mode's availability means that it is now easier for players to level up their hero ships much like how the Heros vs Villains game mode made it easier to level up the various ground-based characters.
This new game mode also comes with a lot of balance tweaks for most of the starship heroes in “Star Wars Battlefront 2”. Some examples of hero tweaks are the Slave I's regen and speed buffs, and Tallie's A-wing and Poe's Black One getting a health buff.
The updates to “Star Wars Battlefront 2's” starship combat also introduces Starfighter Custom Arcade. This new game mode allows players to try out all the different abilities as well as practice the ships they plan to invest their time leveling up in without having to wash out in the more competitive game modes.
There are a couple of honorable mentions to the patch. The first would be an increased stamina cost for lightsaber blocking and holding block. Along with this, the stamina costs are now significantly different for lightsaber users, which would force players to be more thoughtful about using their block actions. The daily quest system has been redesigned as well, now giving out three daily quests instead of just one per day. And the last honorable mention is more cosmetic, giving the players the ability to change their appearance pre-round.
The patch also includes some game mode changes, such as the inclusion of the Yavin map on Jetpack Cargo.
