WILMINGTON, Mass., July 17, 2017 -- In partnership with Women in Security and Privacy (WISP), Security Innovation, cybersecurity provider and leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Security Training three years in a row, will be running a conference-wide interactive web application contest at DEF CON 25 Las Vegas, NV this year.
The contest, hand-selected by the DEF CON contest committee, is called CMD+CTRL. CMD+CTRL is a highly interactive learning event where development and IT teams come together to put their security skills to the test. Players learn offensive and defensive tactics in real-world environment where they compete to find vulnerabilities in web applications and defend IT infrastructure. At DEF CON, the contest will be based on Security Innovation’s Web Application CMD+CTRL Hackathon.
“We are excited to run our second DEF CON contest with CMD+CTRL this year,” said Joe Basirico, VP of Services. “It’ll be another fun opportunity to test out skills and compete with friends and other attendees. See you on the scoreboard!”
"Security competitions are a valuable way to develop and demonstrate a sound understanding of technical security," said Kenesa Ahmad, Co-Founder and Chair, Women in Security and Privacy. "It's important to make these opportunities available for those just entering or exploring the security industry as well as seasoned professionals looking to expand and refine their skills."
Recently Security Innovation has run their CMD+CTRL Hackathon at several industry association meetings and events including: RSA, ToorCon, OWASP AppSec California, SecureWorld Portland, Connected Security Expo; as well as for many enterprise clients around the globe.
