Saudi Arabia's regional development project, NEOM, has collaborated with Animoca Brands to accelerate the advancement of Web3 technology in the region.
This collaboration involves a potential $50 million investment deal, showcasing Saudi Arabia's commitment to fostering innovation and diversification.
A Promising Deal for Web3 Enterprise Services
NEOM and Animoca Brands have announced a strategic partnership to foster the growth of Web3 enterprise service capabilities within the region. The planned Web3 services will not only have a global impact. Still, they will also contribute significantly to the progress of emerging technologies in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, and the NEOM region, according to Cointelegraph.
NEOM, located in northwest Saudi Arabia, is being developed into a futuristic "living laboratory." With a vision to become a hyper-connected region, NEOM is poised to be at the forefront of technological advancements and an epicenter for innovation.
Coindesk noted that the partnership between NEOM and Animoca Brands envisions establishing a dedicated hub within NEOM to support the growth of the local Web3 ecosystem. This aligns with Saudi Arabia's ambitious "Saudi Vision 2030" plan, which aims to strengthen the economy, society, and culture of the nation.
Majid Mufti, CEO of NEOM Investment Fund, emphasized the crucial role of Web3 technology in NEOM's future development. He expressed his belief that Web3 will not only form an essential foundation for NEOM's tech stack but also possess the potential to revolutionize global industries.
Animoca Brands, led by co-founder and executive chairman Yat Siu, envisions the emergence of a new meta-nation within the Web3 ecosystem. Siu's vision aligns perfectly with NEOM's goals, and he believes that NEOM has the potential to become the pioneering region in fully harnessing the power of blockchain technology.
In addition to the partnership, the NEOM Investment Fund is considering a substantial investment of $50 million in Animoca Brands.
The Middle East as a Technology Hub
Saudi Arabia is just one example of the Middle East's rapid adoption of emerging technologies. The region has actively explored various frontiers, including artificial intelligence (AI) and chatbot development. Partnerships, such as the one between NEOM and Animoca Brands, testify to the region's determination to lead the way in technological advancements.
In a recent development, OpenAI, the creator of the widely recognized AI chatbot ChatGPT, announced its partnership with Dubai-based technology holding group G42. This collaboration reinforces the Middle East's growing significance in the global technology landscape.
