On Wednesday, Samsung officially unveiled its large-screen Galaxy View tablet.
Dubbing it as "the largest Android mobile device on the market," PCMag said the tablet is equipped with a 18.4-inch Full HD display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and running on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The device also comes with a high-quality speaker purportedly to make video conferencing happen, a 2.1-megapixel front camera, and a 5,700 mAH battery that can last up to 8 straight hours of use.
Mashable said the new Samsung tablet looks oddly like a briefcase. But if Samsung intends to market it as a small, portable, personal TV as opposed to a tablet, it can easily garner the market share long dominated by tablets like iPad and small laptops.
Samsung's CEO and IT and mobile business chief JK Shin said in a statement, "At Samsung, we are committed to creating new possibilities and bringing our consumers the best mobile experience. We are very excited to introduce the new Galaxy View, providing an entirely new way of consuming mobile video and entertainment."
