Caitriona Balfe has been announced as one of the nominees for the 2019 Golden Globes Awards’ Best Actress for drama. The announcement was posted on Dec. 6 and Starz immediately sent its congratulatory message to the actress. Of course, her “Outlander” co-star and leading man, Sam Heughan, is one of the first few people to congratulate her and as usual, his message is nothing but sweet.
The actress reacted to her nomination by updating her Twitter with a short note that reads: "Wow, thoroughly shocked and completely ecstatic to hear I am among the nominees for this years @goldenglobes."
She added, "A HUGE thank you to the HFPA for their continued support and a HUGE congratulations to Julia, Elizabeth, Sandra and Keri, I am beyond proud to be in your company."
Then, Sam Heughan applauded for Caitriona Balfe by retweeting Starz’ congratulatory message and writing, “CONGRATS LOVELY!!!!! So deserved and what a category. Or should I say Caitagory. #BalfeForTheWin"

This is Caitriona Balfe’s fourth nomination in the Golden Globes and many predicted that she would finally win this time. Sam Heughan’s co-star was nominated in 2016 but lost to Taraji P. Henson for her role in “Empire,” then in 2017, she lost to “The Crown’s” Claire Foy and finally in 2018, the Best Actress award was given to Elisabeth Moss for “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
Caitriona Balfe is competing for the Best Actress award for her role as Claire Randall in “Outlander” but Sam Heughan failed to be listed in the nominees for Best TV Drama Actor. She will be going against Julia Roberts for “Homecoming,” Elisabeth Moss for “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Keri Russell for “The Americans” and Sandra Oh for “Killing Eve.” Unfortunately, the 2019 Golden Globes has no other nomination for the “Outlander” series. The awards ceremony will be held on Jan. 6, 2019 in Beverly Hills.
Meanwhile, Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan’s “Outlander” season 4 airs every Sunday at 8 p.m. on Starz.
