Russian Drone Attacks Kill Four in Kyiv Region, Including Three Children

An overnight Russian drone attack on Ukraine’s Kyiv region killed four people, including three children, as strikes continued across the capital and other parts of the country on Sunday, according to Ukrainian authorities.

Ukraine’s emergency service said a mother and her two 3-year-old children were killed when a Russian drone struck a private home outside Kyiv. In a separate attack, a girl later died in hospital from injuries sustained in another district, Kyiv regional governor Tymur Tkachenko said.

Drone activity continued over Kyiv and the surrounding region throughout the day. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said one person was injured in the capital, while debris from intercepted or damaged drones fell across several districts.

Tkachenko said the Kyiv region had faced more than a day of attacks across multiple areas. The southwestern Fastiv district suffered the heaviest damage, with more than 24 locations affected. Damaged sites included residential properties, industrial and utility facilities, vehicles and the grounds of an agricultural enterprise.

Russian forces also struck near an apartment building in the northern Ukrainian city of Sumy, killing one person and injuring another. Sumy, located close to the Russian border, has repeatedly come under attack during the war.

In eastern Ukraine, officials in Kramatorsk reported that one person was killed during several rounds of shelling. The city is among the heavily defended urban centers in the Donetsk region targeted as Russian forces continue their advance.

The attacks also raised concerns beyond Ukraine. Moldova’s Foreign Ministry condemned what it described as an overnight drone intrusion north of Chisinau. Moldova, which borders western Ukraine, has previously reported drones identified as Russian entering its airspace.

Russia did not acknowledge the reported strikes. Kyiv and its surrounding region have faced persistent Russian drone attacks in recent weeks as aerial assaults remain a major feature of the conflict.
