There’s still no news when “Riverdale” Season 4 will air despite CW renewing the murder-mystery back in January. But looking into the pattern of the show’s release date, it can be argued that it will return on October 2019 given that the second and third installment came out during this month, Screen Rant reported.
Of course, “Riverdale” Season 4 will still have a few breaks during its run, which is expected to bleed into 2020. This isn’t surprising since the fourth installment has been given yet another 22 episodes to provide writers with enough room to create another compelling narrative.
And speaking of plots, “Riverdale” Season 4 will need to address several cliffhangers, the biggest of which involving Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and his absence during the flash forward scene. It’s safe to say that there’s zero chance that this character will die given that he’s one of the major reasons why series has been successful so far.
There’s also the fact that a lot of Sprouse’s fans will be irked if he doesn’t return in “Riverdale” Season 4. The question now becomes: what happened to Jughead during that ominous finale scene? Well, it appears that Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Archie (KJ Apa) may have committed something terrible judging by their bloodied clothes that they were burning along with Jug’s signature beanie.
It's still unclear what exactly happened that night, but Betty made her friends swore to not speak of the incident again. She also told them that they should part ways after graduating from senior high. Meanwhile, Hiram (Mark Consuelos) is expected to return in “Riverdale” Season 4 even though he’s been thrown in prison, TVLine reported.
Incarcerated at a place where he’s practically king, it’s no surprise that the showrunners are looking to have this character cause some major headaches for the four core. As for the fate of Luke Perry’s character, it appears that “Riverdale” Season 4 will finally be killing him off as has been confirmed by showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
