‘Riverdale’ Season 1, Episode 9 Spoilers: “Chapter Nine: La Grande Illusion" – Archie Steals Kiss with Cheryl; Alice Plots Revenge Against Blossom Family

‘Riverdale’ season 1’s episode 9, titled “Chapter Nine: La Grande Illusion," will follow Archie as he agrees to escort Cheryl in one of the Blossoms’ important family events. The promo hints that Archie and Cheryl will be sharing a kiss despite Archie receiving warning against the Blossom family. Meanwhile, Alice Cooper will plot revenge against the Blossoms in the upcoming episode.

The synopsis for “Chapter Nine: La Grande Illusion" posted on TV Guide reads, “A reluctant Archie (KJ Apa) has an ulterior motive for agreeing to escort Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) to her family's official start of maple-syrup tapping, where he picks up information about Betty's sister (Tiera Skovbye);

Veronica (Camila Mendes) attempts to be nice and befriends a classmate whose father's illegal doings cause problems; Hermione (Marisol Nichols) wrestles with telling Fred (Luke Perry) the truth. Meanwhile, Alice (Madchen Amick) plots revenge on the Blossoms with the help of her two daughters.”

The promo opens to Archie and Cheryl walking towards Cheryl’s parents against a snowy landscape as she explains in a voice-over, “Every year, we host a tradition that honors the Blossom bloodline.” In the next scene, Cheryl asks Archie seductively, “Wanna be my date?”

It seems that Archie will reluctantly agree to the proposal since he also intends to discover more information on Betty’s sister, Polly. In the next scenes, Archie is warned that the Blossoms have ulterior motives of their own and will be taking advantage of him.

It will be interesting to see how Archie will manage to keep his guard up despite the lure of the Blossom family. By the end of the promo, Archie and Cheryl share a kiss in the dark.

Meanwhile, according to Christian Post, the upcoming episode will also feature Alice Cooper as she plots revenge against the Blossoms with the help of her daughters. Drama continued to hound the Cooper-Blossom rivalry especially since Polly, who is pregnant with Jason’s (Trevor Stines) child, has agreed to live with the Blossoms seemingly choosing them over her own family.

‘Riverdale’ season 1’s episode 9, titled “Chapter Nine: La Grande Illusion," is scheduled to air on The CW on April 6, 2017. It was directed by Lee Rose and written by James DeWille. It will be followed by episode 10, titled "Chapter Ten: The Lost Weekend," directed by Dawn Wilkinson and scheduled to be released on April 13.
