The fifth season of “Rick And Morty” has long been confirmed. It was renewed at the same time as season 4 because, at that time, Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon received a bulk order of 70 episodes.
This is why “Rick and Morty” season 5 is sure to arrive after the fourth season wrapped up a few days ago. The fourth season of the adult animation concluded last weekend with the “Star Mort Rickturn of the Jerri” episode.
Season 5 update - Will the next season arrive soon?
Since a total of 10 episodes were released in season 4, “Rick and Morty” season 5 is also expected to offer the same number of stories. This leaves the showrunners with just 50 more episodes to work on for the sixth installment and beyond.
It is also likely that the upcoming season will arrive quicker than the previous seasons since the show’s renewal has been in place as early as 2018. This matter was also mentioned by Roiland and Harmon last year. In an interview, they said that fans will not have to wait as much as they did for season 4 anymore.
“We’re rolling right into the next batch (season 5) and the plan has always been to get them out quicker,” Roiland told Entertainment Weekly. Harmon went on to say: "I think it's safe to say without fear of being wrong that the gap between seasons three and four will be the longest and last time that it's ever so long that it's ridiculous.”
Harmon also said that he doesn’t know how fast they can do “Rick and Morty” season 5 but definitely, it will not be as long as the fourth season ever again.
“We’re literally writing season 5 while finishing season 4 just to force ourselves to commit to a certain schedule,” Harmon added. “Not to get anyone’s hopes up, but it is structured into our deal that if we’re going strong and fast there are options to deliver more episodes at a time.”
Spoilers - What to expect in the next episodes
The details about the concept or story plot for “Rick and Morty” season 5 is not yet available but some fans may want to figure out what the title of the first episode may be. Jess Loveness wrote five episodes for the show and it includes the first story for the next season. He posted the scripts last year on his Twitter.
One thing is sure, “Rick and Morty” season 5 will not pick up from the finale of season 4. However, there is a possibility that viewers may see the cloned version of Beth again. Release date is not yet available as of this time.
