“Rick and Morty” Season 4 won’t be coming out anytime soon as the creators behind the critically acclaimed animated series are still writing the episodes of the fourth installment. Following that, the production involving the animation department will follow along with voice-acting.

Most of the core casts are expected to return in “Rick and Morty” Season 4 although guest stars haven’t been announced just yet. In the past, Christian Slater, Lance Reddick, Tony Hale, Susan Sarandon, and Nathan Fillion were among the celebrities who lent their voices and breathe new life to guest characters.

And given that Cartoon Network has ordered 70 more episodes from show creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, there will be a lot more popular names that will be making their way into the series. Right now, Harmon and Roiland are being reticent about when “Rick and Morty” Season 4 will be released although they did drop a hint about it at the finale of the third installment.

Mr. Poopybutthole said that fans will have to wait “a really long time” for the show’s return, adding that he “might even have a big, white Santa Claus beard” when it does. And it’s this statement that got fans wondering if the animators are preparing a special Christmas episode this month. After all, it’s not unreasonable to speculate that Harmon and Roiland want to thank their audiences for their continued support even though it’s taking them a long time to release “Rick and Morty” Season 4.

And this gesture of gratitude might come in the form of a surprise Christmas special release. There’s also the fact that Mr. Poopbutthole’s past statements have been an accurate guide in the return of the third installment. When the second season ended, the character told audiences to expect the third installment to drop a year and a half later, which is exactly what happened. Of course, if a Christmas special does happen, it will probably be a one-time deal and will not kick-off “Rick and Morty” Season 4.

At this point, fans are willing to take whatever Harmon and Roiland will offer given that the show has been off the air for more than a year now. Hopefully, everything is going swimmingly with the writing process and no unforeseen circumstances will occur that would delay the release of “Rick and Morty” Season 4.
