The NASA-inspired and unquestionably futuristic Air Swipe Bag, which Coperni introduced earlier this year, garnered undeniable attention. As with its antecedents, the silhouette of the much-discussed accessory whimsically resembles a pivotal moment in iPhone history.
Coperni's Air Swipe Bag, Made of 99% Air and 1% Glass, Debuts at Paris Fashion Week
Coperni's most recent handbag is an optical delicacy in the March report. Following its Instagram debut, "The Air Swipe Bag" went viral after the fashion brand introduced the new accessory. The Air Swipe Bag debuted officially during the brand's Paris Fashion Week 2024-2025 Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show.
The bag is constructed using "silica aerogel," a nanomaterial developed by NASA. This solid comprises one percent glass and 99 percent air, making it the lightest on Earth. NASA has utilized silica aerogel in the past to "capture stardust."
Although it reportedly weighs only 33 grams, the Air Swipe Bag can withstand pressures and temperatures of up to 4000 times its weight and 1200 degrees Celsius (2192 degrees Fahrenheit).
The bag designers disclosed to Vogue UK that the accessory derived its name from the iPhone's activate function and that fifteen prototypes were required to perfect the final design.
In the remarks section, specific individuals expressed doubts regarding the purse's functionality, stating, "However, does it serve the purpose of a bag?" about the small size of the bag.
In response, the manufacturer confirmed that the case can accommodate an iPhone. Smaller containers have undoubtedly been produced in the past.
People noted that at the 2022 Grammy Awards, Doja Cat sported a comparable glass purse by Coperni, which contained wrapped candies and was adorned with a miniature JBL speaker.
Further information, including the street date and retail price, was not accessible at publication.
