Pubs reopening: Rules to follow to enjoy your favorite drinks

The United Kingdom is slowly allowing some business establishments to reopen under the new normal, that is despite the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) still being very much around.

For July, pubs are among the business establishments allowed to open along with hairdresser salons and barbershops, restaurants, museums and churches.

But, because the government wants to make sure that people are aware that the COVID-19 pandemic is still around, there are measures or rules that should be followed. Businesses have to make sure that their establishments could live up to what the government call "COVID-secure."

This means a change in your drinking experience at the pub.

Social distancing and hand sanitation are precautionary measures that still have to be followed at all times.

Although, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson had cut the two-meter social distancing to just one-meter now.

Outdoor and indoor pubs are allowed to reopen provided that they put up a number of hand-washing stations.

For indoor pubs, more ventilation and tables are required to minimize standing or sitting at a shared bar to reduce surface contact for both customers and staff.

Pub capacity must also be reduced so social distancing can still be implemented. You won't have to drink alone though as groups of six are allowed.

Customers will also be asked for their names because pub owners will be required to submit this for the government's contact tracing.

Despite the easing of restrictions and the opening of some recreational establishments, the government insists that people should continue to be aware of the signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

And, just because some establishments are now allowed to open, this should not fool people into thinking that everything is back to normal. There is still a lot of risk present despite the reopening of business establishments.
