It is good for our bodies to also have some fat but not visceral fat.

Visceral fat is the kind of fat that is stored inside the abdominal cavity, surrounding the vital organs such as stomach, liver and intestines.

It is a must for you to get rid of this visceral fat because it could put you at risk of life-threatening and long-term medical conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, colorectal cancer, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's disease and breast cancer.

Contrary to earlier reports, you can get rid of visceral fat. Not as fast and as easy as we want to, as it will entail hard work and determination.

Visceral fat is receptive to diet, exercise and changes in lifestyle. Each pound that you lose to these three will also cause you to lose some visceral fat.

Exercising for 30 minutes a day is a good start. Your daily exercise should include cardio and strength training.

What is ideal though is doing 30 minutes of cardio five times a week and strength training three times a week.

And, you should also avoid getting stressed because cortisol, the stress hormone, can increase how much visceral fat your body can store. It will be a big help if you learn stress management such as deep breathing and meditation.

As earlier stated, you should also start eating a healthy and well-balanced diet. Avoid processed food, food high in sugar, and fat.

When cooking food, it is better to use low-fat cooking methods. Instead of frying, broil, boil, and bake. If you really need to use oil, go for olive oil or peanut oil.

There are also food swaps that you can do as suggested by dietician Jane Clarke via the Daily Express.

Among her suggestions are mixing mayonnaise with creamy Greek yogurt, swapping traditional rice with cauliflower rice and going for sweet potatoes.
