NEW YORK, April 23, 2018 --
In support of National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW), Progyny, the leading fertility benefits management company, announced today the launch of two “How-To” guides geared for employers and their employees on how to navigate infertility in the workplace. NIAW brings attention to the far-reaching impact of infertility and the struggle that millions of people endure to build their family. This year’s NIAW theme is #FliptheScript.
The “How-To” guides released today encourage human resource managers and people leaders to #FliptheScript on infertility and start the conversation with their employees. The first guide, “How to Support Employees with Infertility: A Guide for HR and People Leaders,” gives an overview of what an individual goes through during fertility treatment, the emotional toll of infertility, the impact it has on an employee’s productivity, and how managers can help their employees. The second guide, “How to Navigate Your Fertility Journey at Work: A Guide for Employees,” gives people who are dealing with infertility tips on how to best navigate the workplace during their fertility journey. Dealing with infertility can be tricky, and there are resources and support available to make the journey less stressful.
“Over the years, many patients have shared with me that they will never forget the kindness and flexibility of their employers while they were in treatment, the emotional support they received from their supervisor, and the impact their company’s coverage made in their treatment decisions,” said Dr. Georgia Witkin, Head of Patient Services Development at Progyny. “Often, my patients share that their job provided a sense of accomplishment and much-needed distraction from their treatment.”
