Pranking Uber Haters With A Cab Order Is Now Possible

While Uber has undeniably had a huge impact in reshaping the modern travel industry, there are still a lot of people who hate the service, particularly after the numerous scandals that plagued the company. Now, the cab-hailing firm is allowing customers to order cabs for someone else. This makes it possible to prank haters, though, it’s highly ill-advised since it would inconvenience drivers if a huge tip is not involved.

The new feature isn’t really all that new since users could always indicate a different geolocation if somebody else needed a ride. However, this new option simply makes it clear that the requester will be the one to pay, Tech Crunch reports. This ensures that there will be no confusion when the rider has been delivered.

What’s more, the driver and the designated rider will have direct contact with each other, thus ensuring that there won’t be any problems with the pick-up. To make use of the service, users simply need to order a cab. They’ll be asked if the cab is for them or for someone else. By choosing the latter, the app will open up the user’s address book, where the intended rider’s contact information will be forwarded.

For the most part, this feature is officially aimed at those who have loved ones who may not be that familiar with using cab-hailing services. These could include the elderly or the very young with escorts. Even the few people who still don’t own a smartphone for whatever reason can benefit from the new feature, Engadget reports.

On that note, it’s very easy to see how this new service could lead to more than a few pranks involving an unfortunate driver calling up a passenger who absolutely loathes Uber. It would certainly lead to an awkward conversation at the cost of the driver’s time and the contact’s peace of mind. For anyone who plans on attempting this, a huge tip for the driver would be required compensation, at the very least.
