The second half of “Power Book II: Ghost” is very much anticipated since the cliffhanger in the mid-season finale showed Tariq falling in a tricky situation. When the series returns, it will premiere with episode 6 of the first season titled “Good vs. Evil.”
It will still focus on Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) since a new challenge in his young life is coming up. This time, although he is just a college boy, he will be facing tough enemies that are also quite powerful.
Recap
Things are heating up in the drama, especially after the mid-season finale showed Tariq admitting to his crime. His mother, Tasha (Naturi Naughton), is still in prison, and he is doing everything to earn money to pay for his lawyer David MacLean (Method Man), so she can be set free.
However, the person who is helping his mother get out of prison has another plan. It turned out that MacLean wants to bring down Tariq by putting him in jail for shooting Ghost. The opportunity for the lawyer to do what he wants also came when Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson) gave him a recording.
The record is Tariq’s confession that Saxe recorded without the 18-year-old’s knowledge. Now, Saxe and MacLean are in the same team and working to take Tariq down as they now have proof that it was the son and not his mother who was responsible for the murder of James “Ghost” St. Patrick. The two will make sure to put Tariq behind bars.
Spoilers - What to expect
When “Power Book II: Ghost” season 1 episode 6 arrives, the works to go against Tariq will begin. The two lawyers will definitely go ahead and find more evidence to pin Tasha’s son deeper into the crime committed against his own father.
Tasha may not be aware of what is happening, and she is likely to walk free soon. On the other hand, Tariq may get help from his new business partner Monet Tejada although she initially thinks that this boy is a rival.
Airdate and cameos
Show creator Courteney Kemp wrote on Instagram on Oct. 17 that they have already completed filming for the second half of “Power Book II: Ghost” despite the pandemic. With that said, she also revealed in another post that episode 6 will air in December.
As for the cameos, CarterMatt suggested that some of the interesting characters may possibly appear again in “Power Book II: Ghost” season 1. Some of the names mentioned include Ramona (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), Paz (Elizabeth Rodriguez), and Kadeem (Jesse Williams).
