Pernod Ricard Korea Co. launched a new high-end whisky, Royal Salute 30 Years Old, in the country, seeing great potential in its high-end whisky market.
This new addition to its prestigious Royal Salute brand was inspired by the Ceremony of the Keys, a tradition done at the Tower of London.
Royal Salute is a luxury whisky brand of Pernod Ricard aged a minimum of 21 years.
Sales of imported Scotch whisky in South Korea grew 52 percent on-year over the four months of July to October.
The figure was 80 percent on-year for high-end Scotch whisky matured over 21 years.
Frantz Hotton, president of Pernod Ricard Korea, said they have seen a massive rebound in international whisky in South Korea. Even in the past few years experiencing COVID-19, we saw 100 percent growth in the festive season
Hotton identified three factors driving the growth in Korea’s whisky market.
First is the popularity of the highballs, a cocktail normally made with Scotch whisky and carbonated water. Second, are people wanting to learn more about whisky, and third are new consumers.
Fewer than 10,000 bottles of the 30-year-old whisky will be reserved for the Korean market, he added.
