It is now officially been one year since the guessing game about the release of “Overlord” season 4 has started. An announcement of the fourth season’s production has yet to be made, but speculations are making fans look forward to a release date sometime in fall 2020.
‘Overlord’ season 4 release date: When to expect anime’s return
The release dates of the first three seasons were completely varied. There was a very long hiatus between seasons 1 and 2 that lasted for more than two years. But season 3 had a different story as it premiere just two months since season 2’s finale. Now, “Overlord” season 4’s fate is looking more like the post-season 1 case.
Some reports are extremely optimistic for speculating that “Overlord” season 4 could premiere as soon as the fall season next year. But even that would mean the next installment will only drop around two years since season 3 concluded, and that would still feel like a long wait for many fans.
Looking at the state of the light novel series, fall 2020 is one of the best cases anime fans could have for “Overlord” season 4. Volume 13 is the latest release that happened on August 2018, and many are expecting the 14th installment this year, but no announcements have been made so far. That means that having a 13-episode “Overlord” season 4, even in 2020, most likely covering three volumes worth of novel materials, would put the two series too close to one another.
Meanwhile, the producers of the anime series have previously said at the AnimagiC convention last August that the making of “Overlord” season 4 will likely happen. Still, the question remains how long anime fans should wait for it.
‘Overlord’ season 4 spoilers: What’s next for Ainz Ooal Gown and his Sorcerer Kingdom
Anime fans might want to consider following through the story of Ainz Ooal Gown by reading the light novel series as they wait for the development of “Overlord” season 4. The third season mostly covered Ainz’s quest in establishing the Sorcerer Kingdom, and his sheer physical and magical strength made it a certain success.
However, he will face a new kind of challenge in “Overlord” season 4. Ainz will realize that power is not enough to maintain a kingdom.
