Oppo A5 has already been released in China but it is currently for pre-orders only. Regular selling of the phone will officially start on July 13 and it was tagged with an introductory price of 1,500 yuan or approximately $225.
According to Sina News, weeks prior to its launching, the A5’s features and specifications were leaked on TENAA, a Chinese regulatory authority. Based on the report, the smartphone comes with a 13MP-2MP dual-camera setup on its rear side and an 8MP unit on the front.
The front camera is said to be equipped with AI recognition across 296 facial features. The face recognition specs make up for the smartphone’s lack of fingerprint sensor. There is also a LED flash for that needed extra lighting when taking photos in dimly lit places.
On the surface, the Oppo A5 boasts of 6.2-inch full HD+ screen display and protected by a 2.5D curved glass with thin bezels on the sides. By putting these nice features together, Oppo was able to produce a sleek phone that is easy on the budget.
The device runs on a Snapdragon 450 processor with octa-core CPU that clocks at 1.8GHz. It comes with a 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal memory that can be expanded with a micro SD card of up to 256GB, GSM Arena reported.
In the connectivity department, the handphone offers most if not all of the best options there are. It carries 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, micro USB port, GPS/ A-GPS and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There are sensors as well, such as ambient light sensors, an accelerometer, and gyro and proximity sensors.
Short battery life is one of the most common complaints heard from mobile phone users, and it seems that Oppo was able to address this issue by fitting the A5 with a huge 4320mAh battery that is claimed to last for 14 hours. Lastly, the Oppo A5 is available in just two colors and buyers can choose between blue and pink shades.
