The OnePlus 7 is going to have one significant improvement under its hood; a fix that has been one of the major criticisms in the flagship series for years. The fix in question is aimed directly at the vibration feature of the handset, which has been considered too weak and too inconsistent by the flagship’s following, CNET reported.
In order to achieve this OnePlus 7 revamp, the company has to outfit the device with a larger motor than its predecessor. The result is supposedly a 200 percent improvement in the vibration function.
“Our team had to rethink the internal design of the OnePlus 7 Pro, to fit inside the body without increasing the thickness of the device, which could lead to a less ergonomic feel. At the same time, we had to ensure that the haptic motor was in the right position so that the haptics would be strong, yet even across the device,” OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau said.
For the notifications, there will be three vibrating options that users can choose ranging in light, medium, and strong. The OnePlus 7 vibration pattern can also be customized in six different iterations, allowing users to tailor how the shaking feels when typing.
It’s expected that this improvement will be outfitted in the three different models of the OnePlus 7. The base model is priced at around $700, while the highest tier is around $800. As for its other features, the upcoming device is expected to be yet another powerhouse that will attempt to woo Apple and Samsung users.
The base model of the OnePlus 7 has a 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It’s been outfitted with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. The Pro variant has been given with HDR10+ support, allowing users to capture HDR images on a consistent basis. There will be four cameras for all iterations.
Three can be found at the back lined vertically with capabilities of 48 MP, a 16 MP, and 8 MP sensors. The front camera has been relocated at the top as a pop-up snapper, removing the notch feature that’s been unpopular with most smartphone users. As for when people can expect the OnePlus 7 to drop, it’s been scheduled for release on May 14, Tuesday. The launching will be held simultaneously in three different locations: London, New York, and Bangalore.
