OnePlus has already confirmed that they will be unveiling the OnePlus 6T at an event in New York City on Tuesday, Oct. 30. But before they reveal their latest flagship smartphone to the world, here are some things buyers should know about the device.
According to reports, the OnePlus 6T is expected to feature a 6.4-inch display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, a 3,700mAh battery, 8 GB of RAM, and 64 GB, 128 GB or 256 GB of interior storage space. It will have a 16MP + 20MP dual-lens rear camera setup as well to go with a 16MP front camera, per XDA Developers.
As noted by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau earlier this month, the OnePlus 6T will also have a new in-display fingerprint sensor called Screen Unlock, and it will allow users to unlock their phone by simply tapping on the screen. It’s a nice feature and Lau said they worked on it for months to “ensure a satisfying experience” for users. However, recent reports have indicated that the OnePlus 6T’s fingerprint sensor may not be as good as advertised.
“While the Samsung Galaxy S10 is rumoured to come with an ultrasonic under–screen fingerprint sensor, the OnePlus 6T may only get an optical sensor. According to leaks on China's Weibo, the 6T will have an optical sensor that means a 2D scan of fingerprints. By comparison, ultrasonic scanner offers a 3D image of the print,” Luke Edwards said in his report for T3.
Of course, that’s not a deal breaker and the OnePlus 6T should continue to draw a lot of attention especially after its unveiling later this month, and it’s allegedly cheaper than its rivals. The price of the OnePlus 6T hasn’t been revealed yet, but reports say it is going to be priced at $550.
