There are many things still being asked about “One Punch Man” season 3, and one of them is about its episode count. It is understandable if some fans want to see more episodes in one season, especially considering how long they have to wait between installments. However, there are indications that season 3 would not be any longer than its predecessors.

One Punch Man’ season 3: Why the anime is likely to keep a 12-episode run

The first and second seasons of “One Punch Man” each came out with 12 episodes. The more than three years of hiatus before season 2’s premiere did not mean a longer run for the anime’s continuation. And there are a couple of possible reasons why that was the case.

There was a major production change within those three years with J.C.Staff taking over the production of the episodes. The manga series, where the anime is based, has also experienced several breaks over the years.

Some fans scrutinized the pacing that J.C.Staff took in making season 2. By number, the second installment animated more chapters than season 1. Knowing how action-packed every manga chapter is, that means more events were really covered when the anime returned in 2019. At this point, the remaining manga chapters to be covered by the anime suggests something about “One Punch Man” season 3.

Season 2 started around chapter 37 while its finale covered up to chapter 84. Meanwhile, chapter 127 is the latest manga installment released just before February ended. That means, right now, there are a little more than 40 chapters only to be used as material for “One Punch Man” season 3.

One Punch Man’ season 3 release date, plot: What and when to expect the anime’s return?

Note that producers have yet to officially announce “One Punch Man” season 3, so it is safe to assume that its production has yet to start. Some fans even believe it might take up to four years before it goes on air.

In a way, that is a positive situation since it will allow the manga to have a comfortable gap from the anime. But that also goes to show that “One Punch Man” season 3 is most likely keeping a 12-episode run, obviously, focused on the Monster Association Arc.
