The year started off right for movie fans, still believing that “Now You See Me 3” is going to be released. However, with nothing seems invincible against the coronavirus pandemic, it begs the question of whether or not this will have some effects on the production of the third film.

Now You See Me 3’ release date speculations: When will it arrive

Avid fans of the heist thriller series were hoping to see “Now You See Me 3” premiere in 2019, given the three-year gap between the first (2013) and second (2016) film installments. However, the lack of any official update since 2016 has provided hints that the third movie is not even close to starting production.

That changed when We Got This Covered reported earlier this year that Lionsgate has started initial preparations for the movie’s production. It then sparked hopes that “Now You See Me 3” could be released in the near future, even possibly in 2021 at the earliest.

However, that release date speculation may seem a tad more impossible now with the COVID-19 pandemic affecting even the most prestigious events. Many cities around the world have also gone on lockdown, schools closed, and work has been suspended in response to the spread of the virus. It is then very possible for the pandemic to also affect production timelines, especially for a movie like “Now You See Me 3” that has not been given an official release date yet.

Now You See Me 3’ cast rumors: Original actors, new faces to star

It is important to note that Lionsgate or any of the cast members have yet to provide a specific timeline for the production and release of “Now You See Me 3.” But the above-mentioned report suggests that the project is not scrapped yet as some fans may have thought.

Lionsgate reportedly contacted Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, Lizzy Caplan, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine for the third heist thriller. Dave Franco was interestingly not mentioned by the source, but the actor is most likely still part of the production, considering he plays one of the main characters in the series.

The same insider also claimed that Lionsgate is looking to cast two actors for new characters. Meanwhile, the mention of Caine suggests that he would still play as one of the antagonists in the film, but it is also still unknown what roles the new cast members would portray in “Now You See Me 3.”
