LEXINGTON, S.C., May 24, 2017 -- Avtec Inc., the nation’s leading independent provider of mission-critical Radio over Internet Protocol (RoIP) dispatch console systems, has completed a communications center upgrade for Blue Ridge Energy, formerly known as Blue Ridge Electric Membership Cooperative. Headquartered in Lenoir, N.C., Blue Ridge Energy serves northwest North Carolina with member services and operations offices located in Lenoir, Boone, West Jefferson, and Sparta, N.C.
The upgraded center features the latest voice dispatch communications technology, including four Avtec Scout™ Internet Protocol (IP) dispatch consoles; an Avtec Mini SIP console – a hardware device that connects to the Scout infrastructure and controls up to four radio endpoints; and Avtec Ranger™ dispatch software, which runs on a Wi-Fi-enabled LTE tablet for disaster recovery and emergency situations. The project upgrade was led by Wireless Communications' General Manager Dave Walton and Account Executive Randy Heaton. Wireless Communications is an Avtec authorized reseller.
Avtec Vice President of Energy Sales Brian Roberts said, “The team at Blue Ridge Energy is committed to providing value to their members by investing in communications technologies that deliver increased reliability and faster response times, while keeping employees safe in the field. The Avtec Scout voice dispatch system accomplishes all of the above by seamlessly integrating with both their Cisco IP phone and digital mobile radio systems.”
Blue Ridge Energy dispatchers can now communicate seamlessly with both phone and radio endpoints using a single headset. In addition, dispatchers benefit from a flexible screen design that increases their efficiency and can be configured based on operational preferences and team workflows.
