Last Wednesday, Nathan’s Famous treated members of the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta to a Coney Island-themed afternoon in Decatur, Ga. Nathan’s Famous brought its traveling mobile-display to the Samuel L. Jones Boys & Girls Club where members enjoyed boardwalk games such as pop-a-shot and skee-ball, a miniature three-horse carousel, a Zoltar® Fortune Teller coupon machine, a two-story tall slide and, most of all, Nathan’s Famous hot dogs.
Nathan’s Famous then honored Portia Russell, of Atlanta, as one of Nathan’s Famous’ “Ultimate Fans” on Saturday.
Russell recently shared her passion and affinity for the brand, fondly recalling trips to Coney Island and the original Nathan’s Famous stand while growing up, on the Nathan’s Famous Facebook page. The simple act of posting her story led the world famous hot dog company to show Russell just how much they appreciate her loyalty. Nathan’s Famous invited Russell to be its guest at Stone Mountain Park’s Spring FUN Break event at the adventure park located just outside of Atlanta.
Little did Russell know that upon her family’s arrival to the Nathan’s Famous mobile display at Stone Mountain Park, she’d be surprised with a $1,000 Kroger gift card, Nathan’s Famous apparel, an annual family membership to Stone Mountain Park, as well as special seating for Saturday’s lasershow. Finally, Nathan’s Famous surprised Russell with one more special gift, free Nathan’s Famous hot dogs for one year!
“We’re grateful to thank Nathan’s Famous fans like Portia for her loyalty,” said Wayne Norbitz, executive board member and 26-year president of Nathan’s Famous. “We learned that experiencing Nathan’s Famous has been passed down through generations in the Russell family and that Portia has even brought her children to Coney Island so they could visit our flagship store themselves. Now, when she visits our friends at Kroger in Atlanta, she’ll be able to enjoy plenty of Nathan’s Famous for the next year!”
This week’s events were part of Nathan’s Famous’ national “Ultimate Fan Nation” campaign. Over the course of the next eight months, Nathan’s Famous will reflect on its history while engaging fans with new opportunities to enjoy the flavor they have come to love. Special offers will be available for fans via NathansFamous.com, and the company’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Nathan’s Famous will also feature members of its “Ultimate Fan Nation” on its social media channels.
Highlights of the Nathan’s Famous 100th anniversary celebration include a special promotion over the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend, the annual Nathan’s Famous International Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, and a special-event based in New York City in early September. Beginning in May, fans will also have the opportunity to have their Ticket to Fun punched as part of an online, summer-rewards program featuring games, prizes and exclusive branded merchandise.
