LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 24, 2017 -- Nathan’s Famous and Meijer supercenter partnered this past weekend to donate a year’s worth of hot dogs and a $1,000 Meijer gift card to Kentucky Harvest food bank, a non-profit that delivers both perishable and non-perishable food to those in need throughout the state. It is the only organization that transports both perishable and non-perishable food in Kentucky and southern Indiana to aid those in need.

The donation was made during a presentation prior to the local Nathan’s Famous qualifying event for the upcoming Fourth of July International Hot Dog-Eating Contest held annually in Coney Island, N.Y.
Nathan’s Famous hosted the hot dog donation and qualifying contest as part of the “Thunder Over Louisville” festival, one of the nation’s top five air shows and nation’s largest annual fireworks event.
“Nathan’s Famous has a long history of supporting organizations that do so much for our local communities,” said Wayne Norbitz, Nathan’s Famous executive board member and former 26-year president. “As we travel the country hosting qualifying events for our annual Fourth of July International Hot Dog-Eating contest, we are reaching out to local pillars in each community that help others in need. In Louisville, we’re humbled to partner with Meijer to help Kentucky Harvest food bank continue their mission.”
