The end-of-July short interest represents 5.06 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.89 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 770 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 636,275,423 shares at the end of the settlement date of July 29, 2016 compared with 636,719,805 shares in 755 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 3.09 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.96.
In summary, short interest in all 3,105 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,298,753,181 shares at the July 29, 2016 settlement date, compared with 3,084 issues and 8,512,475,252 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 4.83 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 3.80 days for the previous reporting period.
