The end-of-December short interest represents 4.19 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.67 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 779 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 652,229,082 shares at the end of the settlement date of December 30, 2016 compared with 655,564,005 shares in 786 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 2.32 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.40.
In summary, short interest in all 3,131 Nasdaq® securities totaled 7,800,241,383 shares at the December 30, 2016 settlement date, compared with 3,142 issues and 7,918,892,163 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 3.92 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.33 days for the previous reporting period.
