In a bold move set to disrupt the PC market, NVIDIA and MediaTek are reportedly launching a revolutionary AI PC chip in 2025. Built on TSMC's 3nm process with next-gen NVIDIA iGPUs, the chip aims to challenge Intel's Lunar Lake and Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite.
NVIDIA and MediaTek Set to Disrupt AI PC Markets
For a long time now, rumors have circulated that MediaTek is working on a special chip for the artificial intelligence personal computer industry.
It was clear that NVIDIA and MediaTek were moving toward a partnership in the AI PC markets, maybe developing a new chip, given NVIDIA's recent leanings towards MediaTek.
AI PC Chip Rumored to Debut by 2025
Rumor has it that the NVIDIA x MediaTek AI PC chip, codenamed "Mobile phone chip expert," will be unveiled in the second half of 2025. What's more intriguing is that, according to WCCFTECH, the chip has reportedly already entered the tape-out stages.
Taking advantage of the AI PC markets' meteoric rise is the perfect method for NVIDIA to break into the custom chip industry, which it has been preparing for.
NVIDIA and MediaTek’s First Foray Into PC Market
With this chip, NVIDIA will finally get its hands on its graphics capabilities, and MediaTek, a well-known mobile chipmaker, will make its PC industry debut. The final product will definitely be competitive, though, going up against chips like Intel's Lunar Lake and Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite.
Although the exact specs are yet unknown, rumor has it that the chip will use TSMC's 3nm process and be based on the ARM architecture. Additionally, next-gen iGPUs from NVIDIA will most likely be included, elevating the future SoC to new levels of excellence.
Major PC Makers Set to Integrate the AI Chip
It's safe to assume that the collaboration between the two companies has been fruitful, and Team Green will have an effect on the artificial intelligence personal computer industries. NVIDIA and MediaTek are also working together in the automotive sector, under the MediaTek Dimensity Auto product line of chips.
What makes this venture so significant for the AI PC markets is that the leak also claims that companies like ASUS, Lenovo, Dell, and HP have expressed interest in NVIDIA's new project. We may anticipate that these firms will incorporate the SoC into their range shortly after introduction.
