The release of foldable smartphones might have also paved the way for the return of the once-trendy flip phones. There are now rumors that a new Motorola Razr will be released in 2019 featuring an all-screen design, though, it would not come cheap at $1,500.
Lenovo, the company that acquired Motorola, has yet to confirm whether or not a new Motorola Razr is really coming out this year. However, sources of several reputable news outlets have reported that the said device is in the pipeline.
One of the first reports came from the Wall Street Journal where the mentioned price was also revealed. It was also said that the new Motorola Razr would be available in February in the United States through a partnership deal with Verizon. It obviously did not happen, though.
However, follow-up reports about the new Motorola Razr kept the rumor mill running. Just a couple of the weeks ago, renders for the supposed Motorola Razr 2019 design started circulating online.
The leaked design, posted through Slashleaks, suggests that the new Motorola Razr will feature almost exactly the same appearance as its classic flip phones. But the inner part is occupied by, presumably, a touchscreen.

When a user opens the device, all they see is a screen in a lengthwise orientation that means Motorola is ditching the physical keypad. The rumored 2019 version of Motorola Razr is almost bezel-less and also sports a notch-design likely intended for the selfie camera and earpiece.
Images found on Slashleaks are almost identical to the ones seen in a leaked filing in January. Other supposed Motorola Razr design renders also suggest that the rumored smartphone will retain the staple smaller screen on the outside.
In April, a Bluetooth certification filing for a Motorola Razr device also surfaced in reports. In the description section, Verizon is also listed as the official carrier for the reported smartphone. This could mean that WSJ’s report could still be true and the smartphone maker just did not make it in time for a February release.
