Mercedes Benz (China) Ltd will begin recalling 4,653 imported vehicles sold in China due to incorrect child-safety lock labels on June 19, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation.
The vehicles to be recalled are the G-class sedans manufactured between Feb 14, 2018, and Sept 24, 2019.
The embossed lock symbol on the rear doors of the said vehicles may indicate the incorrect child-safety lock staus, increasing the risk of injury in children if the door opens unexpectedly.
Mercedes Benz will install correct operating directions on the rear doors, free of charge.
In May, Mercedes-Benz sold over 70,000 passenger cars in China, achieving double-digit growth in China.
Britta Seeger, a board member of Daimler and Mercedes Benz, noted that their retail sales in China provided them with optimism.
China is Mercedes Benz's biggest market.
