Melania Trump and Donald Trump spent Christmas Eve at the Mar-a-Lago in Florida. They were together this time, unlike yesterday when the POTUS had to stay behind the White House as he needed to fix the partial government shutdown at that time.
Now, since it was Christmas, people are wondering what the president could have given the FLOTUS as a gift for the occasion where people usually exchange gifts. But rather than thinking about something grand, it was revealed that Donald’s gift to Melania is something typical that it is really unexpected.
Melania’s Christmas gift from her husband
According to USA Today, what the president gave to his wife was divulged during his Christmas Eve teleconference call to the American troops around the world. During the call, an army intelligence analyst stationed in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, asked him that what he got for Melania Trump.
“What did you get Mrs. Trump for Christmas this year?” the officer asked the president. Seemingly taken aback with the question, Donald Trump reportedly leaned back in his chair and replied, “Oh, that’s a tough question. Well, I really should say, a very beautiful card. You know, I’m working a lot.”
The POTUS explained that he got Melania Trump a beautiful card that he picked from a bunch of pretty cards. He chose the nicest one among them and gave it as a present because he was too busy to get anything else.
He went on to say that there is a lot of love in his family and he and the FLOTUS have a good relationship. Donald Trump added that he also got his wife some flowers to go with the card.
Donald and Melania Trump’s Christmas message to America
Meanwhile, the First Couple also released a video to officially greet the Americans and give their warm message to everyone. The more than a minute long clip showed the pair sitting in front of a fireplace and Christmas tree while they deliver their message to the US citizens.
"We give thanks for the millions of Americans who come together to care for others with compassion and bring the warmth and bliss of this holy season to our families, our friends, our neighbors and to those in need," the president said. "We say a special prayer for those military service members stationed far from home and we renew our hope for peace among nations and joy to the world.”
Finally, at the end of the video, Donald and Melania Trump greeted everyone a merry Christmas and wish that it will be a joyous one for everybody. They also wish the people “a very happy, happy new year."
